Norwegian Breakaway
The first of the Breakaway class, conceived as New York's ship: The Waterfront open-air promenade, Aqua Park and a 2025 refurbishment.
About the ship
Norwegian Breakaway introduced the Waterfront concept in 2013: an open-air promenade encircling the ship, onto which restaurants and bars open directly. 145,655 gross tons, 3,903 guests; refurbished in 2025.
Highlights
- The Waterfront and 678 Ocean Place: a three-deck entertainment and dining hub
- Aqua Park: five water slides, including two free-fall slides
- A three-storey ropes course and a 'plank' extending over the side of the ship
- Broadway productions and the Burn the Floor dance show
Staterooms and The Haven
- Inside, ocean-view and balcony staterooms; family and connecting stateroom options
- The Haven: a key-access enclave on the ship's upper decks with a dedicated butler and concierge, its own restaurant, lounge, pool and sun deck
Itineraries
A European summer (the Mediterranean and Northern Europe), followed by the Caribbean; seasons departing from New Orleans and New York.

Casino on board
Breakaway Casino: a casino spread over two decks at the heart of 678 Ocean Place, featuring slot machines, blackjack, roulette, craps and poker tables, a VIP area and the Casinos at Sea programme.
The casino is part of Norwegian Cruise Line's Casinos at Sea programme: play earns points, and points set your reward tier from Pearl to Elite and your certificates for future cruises. The floor offers slot machines from 1¢ to $100 a spin, video poker and live-dealer tables; table minimums vary by time of day, with high-limit tables up to $5,000. The casino host looks after slot and blackjack tournaments during the cruise, free-play promotions and table reservations. The casino opens while the ship sails in international waters and is closed in port.
